Crater Holds is a division of Pyramide USA climbing walls, and has been in the business of manufacturing climbing holds for over ten years. It all began with humble roots. Mixing resins in our bedrooms, closets, and garages, constantly looking for ways to improve the process and make a product that worked. What started as a hobby in a small 6 foot by 5 foot closet, progressed first into a 1000 square foot production garage, and then into a full blown commercial operation with worldwide sales of countless climbing holds.

While the ownership has changed a few times throughout the years, the focus remains the same: To create industry best climbing holds through creative design, material and process innovation, and unmatched quality control. Crater is driven by a group of individuals with countless years of experience in design, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and of course climbing. Together we have developed many successful new product concepts, designed state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, and we were one of the major forces behind the industry shift towards polyurethane resin.

Over seven years ago, we became convinced that polyurethane was the best resin system for climbing holds. While this resin system was quite a bit more expensive than the standard polyester resin, it did offer great advances in strength and durability. More importantly, urethane resin is by far safer for the environment. Even today, many of our biggest competitors still use polyester resin, despite the inherent problems with it. Some companies are reluctant to change because of the large price increase over polyester resins. We have always believed that quality of product and safety of our workers and the planet should take priority over profit margins.
