I
am building a wall for my kids, which sets should I get?
For both young climbers and beginners, we suggest our Kid
Packs or any of our Bucket Sets, Mini
Jug Set, and the Mixed Set 2. The Big Chip set is recommended only if you
are looking for foot chips, but keep in mind they are small and
not designed to be used with hands. Please refer to our advice section for more information. Our Super Sets or other bulk packages
are not recommended since they will contain a variety of holds
including holds that are difficult to use. Top
How
many climbing holds should I get?
We recommend 1 hold per 2 square feet of climbing space for excellent
coverage. This is also ideal coverage for climbing walls for young
children. When your budget is a concern, or you are only dealing
with taller climbers, 1 hold per 3 square feet is sufficient.
Start with what your budget will allow, you can always add more
as time goes on! Top
How
many t-nuts should I get?
We recommend 2-3 t-nuts per square foot
for regular climbing walls. For play sets, it is common to only
purchase as many t-nuts as you have climbing holds. Be sure to
do it right the first time, you won't want to take the wall apart
to add more at a later time. Top
Are the holds guaranteed?
If any of our holds break during normal usage, simply send it
in for a replacement. This guarantee is valid regardless of how
the product is broken. Do not worry about over-tightening or dropping
them. If they break, we replace them. Nothing is in this world
is truly unbreakable, but our holds are close to it! Top
What
if I am just not happy?
We always accept returns on unused holds - just make sure they
are returned in the original condition. Top
What
is the texture like?
Our texture is in the medium range - a perfect compromise
between softness and longevity. Our holds will have a similar
texture to many of the other brands of holds on the market. We
would compare the texture to 100 grit sandpaper. Top
Are they tendon friendly?
Of course they are! Great care and planning goes into designing
every model we offer. We have a 'safety first, realism second'
approach to designing. Many people say that our holds are more
comfortable to the hands than most of the other brands. Since
our models are a direct representation of our quality, much planning
and testing goes into the design. Only models that meet our high
standards make it into actual production. Top
What
type of washer do you use?
We always use Grade 8 hardened washers in all our models that
require them. Top
What
size holes do I drill for the t-nuts?
A 7/16" diameter hole is recommended. Some people prefer
to install the t-nuts in a grid. For ease of installation, and
overall looks, we recommend a 'random grid' instead of exact spacing.
If you plan on 2.25 t-nuts per square foot, your holes should
be about 8" apart. Top
What is the metal thing
in each picture? Is it included?
Each picture shows a carabiner for size reference. A carabiner
is roughly the size of a cassette tape. It is not included with
(nor necessary for) the holds. Top
Are
the holds weather resistant?
Our holds will handle nearly any condition, in any location. We
do not use UV resistors as they actually make very little difference
in true color longevity. You will get some color fading as with most
plastics left outdoors, however the structural integrity of the
plastic will remain. Top
Can
I mount climbing holds on drywall?
Drywall or paneling is not strong enough to handle the stresses
of a climbing wall. The standard surface is 3/4" plywood
for indoor walls. We suggest you build a supplemental frame to
attach to your existing wall (into the studs). Attach the plywood
to this new frame. This new frame will also provide a small gap
between the plywood and your existing wall. This will help reduce
damage to your drywall and allow room for bolt clearance. Top
My
wall is thicker than 3/4", do I need special bolts?
We package our bolts for standard 3/4" plywood walls. If
your wall is thicker, please let us know so we may package the
proper length bolts with your order. This request can be made
in the checkout process or by clicking here. Top
Where
can I get help with installation?
Please visit http://www.cheapholds.com/install.html for help with
installing t-nuts, holds, and much more. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Top
Will
my credit card be secure?
Yes. We use the highest security measures available
to guarantee safe transactions. When you are about to enter your
credit card information, look for the locked padlock (at the bottom
of your browser) indicating that the site is secure. Rest assured
your credit card will be safe. Top
What
is a CVV2 number and why do you need it?
This 3 or 4 digit number is a new security
feature. Since this number is only printed on your credit card
and never anywhere else, it proves to us that you are the card
holder. While this will eventually be required of all online merchants,
we have just chosen to implement it ahead of time. Top
Will
you give my personal info to other companies?
Absolutely not. We hate it when other companies
do this to us, so we will never do it to you. Top
When
will my order arrive?
Our current processing time is typically less than 5 business days.
If your order is shipped by Fedex, you will receive your shipping confirmation and tracking number via email once your
order has been shipped. Ground shipping may take up to 5 business
days. You can check the status of your online order at: http://www.cheapholds.com/form.shtml
Top
What about backorders?
Any items that are backordered for more than 90 days, or are no longer available, will be canceled from your order. Top
Is
the hardware included?
All holds do come with the necessary indoor bolts
or screws. In most cases, t-nuts and wrenches are sold separately. Top
Should
I purchase stainless steel bolts?
If your wall is outdoors, we highly recommend
upgrading to stainless steel bolts. These are available for an
extra $.60 per hold and can be added in the checkout process. Top
How
much is shipping?
Shipping
costs are based on the order subtotal. You can use any speed of delivery,
however the order will still be held by our standard processing time.
Please contact us first if your order is extremely urgent. The standard
shipping costs are shown below. AK and HI rates may vary. Please contact

My
order was declined, but my card company says it went through.
Why?
In the process of charging your credit card, the funds are first
requested from your card company. This first step is called an
authorization. The second step is to go back to the card company
and actually take the funds. If the authorization is given on
your order, our server will then attempt to verify your billing
and security info. If we are unable to verify the billing and
security portion, your order is declined by our server and the
funds are never actually taken. However, the authorization may
remain still remain on your credit card account. Since we did
not accept the funds, this authorization will automatically disappear
in approx. 2-5 days. Top
Can
I return my order?
We do accept returns on unused holds, contact us for return shipping info
and the return shipping address. All sales on gear and padding are final
due to safety concerns. Books may be returned only for exchange if defective.
If you are returning holds, they must be unused and packed in the original
packaging. Take special care when packing to ensure they arrive without
damage. Returns are not accepted if the holds are damaged due to poor
packing. You must include a copy of the sales receipt and a written explanation
for the return or exchange. We recommend that you use a traceable and
insured delivery service for the return. We can not be responsible for
damaged or lost packages. Top |
